UAN Meets Community Leaders

There is strength in unity and knowledge in diversity, thus United Asian Network has been conducting awareness and interactive engagements with various Community leaders in the past few months.

There is strength in unity and knowledge in diversity, thus United Asian Network has been conducting awareness and interactive engagements with various Community leaders in the past few months. UAN’s Chairman, Dr. Bimal Kantaria is pleased to note that, “communities work hard to serve their members, congregation and provide solutions whether in medical, education or through cultural celebrations.”

This exercise was conducted under the UAN’s Social Harmony Pillar, whose objective is to, integrate and develop programs that will bring a deeper understanding of the social diversity as a pillar of strength of the Community.

On 26th February, UAN met with Mr. Prateek Ghose, Chairman of Kenya Bengalee Cultural and Welfare Society.
On 6th March, UAN met with Mrs. Shamira Dostmohamed, President of Ismaili Community.
On 3rd April, UAN met outgoing Chairman, Mr. Manish Shah of Shree Navnat Vanik Mahajan.
On 19th May, UAN met Mr. Atul Raithatha, Chairman of Shree Lohana Mahajan Mandal.

On 29th May, UAN met Mr. Gamdoor Singh Panesar, Chairman of Siri Gurdwara Ramgarhia Railway, South C.
On 30th May, UAN met Mrs. Bindi Shah, Chairlady of Visa Oshwal Community.
On 5th June, UAN met Mr. Surinder Singh Sihra, President of East African Ramgarhia Board, Pangani.

During these visits, UAN’s Board led by the Chairman was given a tour of the community’s respective premises and an introduction to the history of the organization or establishment.
Thereafter there were discussions about UAN, its mission and objectives and how as a think-tank network the aim is to collaborate with all communities in Kenya for the betterment of Kenyan-Asians, Asians from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

It was observed that almost all communities have successful programs for their youth and especially elderly. They are constantly doing cultural, sports, welfare and civic activities for the welfare and wellbeing of their members. UAN applauds them on these efforts and encourages them to continue to maintain the cohesiveness and relevance to these ever-changing and challenging times.

Last but not least, all communities are doing their best for nation building, especially through their philanthropic and charity drives, for example in the recent floods rescue mission through regular food distributions. We recognize this immense service to the communities and Nation.

“United Asian Network (UAN) is a not-for-profit and a non-political organisation formed to act as a think-tank and facilitator of cross-community collaboration of the Asian Community in Kenya, comprising Asians having their roots in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka that have chosen Kenya as their home. UAN will deliver its mandate through four pillars being the Economic Connector, Asian Identity, National Engagement and Social Harmony focusing on the Community and Kenya at large.”
There will be further engagements and forums to address their specific issues in the near future but the start of a WhatsApp Youth Group will drive communication with them going henceforth.
